Family Vacation Part 2

On Thursday we had free tickets to the natural museum of history (thanks to uncle Jeff's friend) and also stopped by the burn center at University hospital to drop off some gifts. The nurse was so nice for giving us the tour of the burn unit.

The rest of the week was spent shopping, working in Jeff's yard (his weeds were as tall as Elisa in some parts and the base look like the stump of a broccoli), organizing his office, garage, installing his surround sound, mounting the flat screen,celebrating Kaydens birthday and going to the open house at the Oquirrh Mountain Temple. I know I was on vacation but I really like to keep busy and Jeff had many projects that needed to be done. Since he is having back problems Elisa and I thought it would be nice to get his new home in order. Some of the pictures below are before and after pictures of his back yard. This was a family project and I have 3 great children that work for free. :)

June Family Vacation Part 1

The last week in June we took a family vacation up north. It was soooo nice.

Saturday we went to Lagoon and noticed our neighbors were up there too. It pretty much sprinkled all day saturday so they had the water park closed. The kids had a blast. Carter and Kayden wanted to go on all the kiddy rides, while Kylie wanted to go on all the adult rides. It was pretty traumatic when I have to carry two kids out of a line ( Carter crying cause he does not want to go on the ride and Kylie crying because she was too short to go on the ride). The only bad thing was when I was riding the adult rides our poor friend Bailey had to here me scream the whole time on "wicked". All in all it was a blast.

Another stop we had was the Hogle Zoo on Tuesday for Kayden's birthday . A big thanks to Uncle Rhett and Aunt Alice for getting us into the zoo for free. Our kids had a blast. The best part of the whole experience was the bird show. That was pretty cool how they have trained those birds to do those things. Notice in picture below how close the bird is flying over the crowds heads.

I took the kids out fishing at Enterprise at the end of may with my dad and grandpa. We didn't catch a lot but we sure did have fun. Kylie caught the first, the most and the biggest.

April was a busy month for both our family and our business. Papa and Grandma Brooks came to visit. Papa Brooks could only stay for a couple days but grandma brooks was able to stay for a whole week. The kids sure do love when they get to see there grandparents from California. Carter started soccer this year for the first time. It was also my first time coaching soccer. We had a great group of kids. For some unknown reason the city never put a bid out for pictures. So us being the photographers we spoke with some of the coaches to get some team pictures. It worked out well, hopefully we will end up taking some family pictures from this We ended up doing 24 teams. We also did pictures for Desert Edge Dance studio and the Heinrich Family. I am sure glad April is over with.

Here is what our little family did in march, and a few pics. For spring break we took the kids up to pioneer park to go out hiking around. Carter had his friend Easton come along. They had a blast. I guess i need to stop working out, cause for some reason I am not able to squeeze through the narrows anymore. It was perfect weather in march the kids pulled out the water slide to have some fun in the sun. We also traveled up to northern utah to see Uncle Jeff's new home and to go see Bailey's dance recital.

Even though it's the new year. We wanted to put some of our x-mas pics up. Christmas eve we went up to my brothers for a family dinner and open gifts. It was nice to spend time with the family during this time of year. I had to work christmas day so I woke everybody up around 05:00 am. Elisa was soooo excited for santa to come she didn't even go to bed that night (it caught up to her she was sick for the next few days). At first they didn't want to get up until I said santa was here, then they were like a lightning bolts to the family room. They were all excited to open their gifts. Elisa sister spent the night so she could be there to watch them open the gifts. Well we hope everyone had a wonderful christmas and a happy new year.

2. How long did you date? We started dating in June, got engaged Christmas Day 2000, and were married in April 2001.

10. When and where was your first kiss? A week or two after we started dating at my apartment. We saw each other every single day and then it was the 4th of July or the night after. The thing I remember most about that first kiss was... It felt like we were somewhere else floating all by ourselves. Sparks were flying like crazy...nothing like I had ever felt before and (I had kissed quite a few boys before him) the coolest thing ever!! I will never forget!!

Notice he is much better at blogging than I am. Basically almost all of the things that other wives would get bugged by it is the opposite for us. I could seriously embarrass him and go on and on but I will stop there.

Kayden and Santa

Kayden's grandparents entered him into a contest in California. Last christmas we went down to there home for the holidays. While we were there Santa Clause stopped by their home to let the kids know that he knew they were going to be at grandma's and grandpa's house. We took a few pictures. We sent that picture to "Santa Clause" and he now uses the picture on his business cards. A couple days ago Elisa mom asked if we could send her that same exact picture. So she sent it to her not thinking of anything. Today we received an e-mail from her mom saying check out the attached link and to be sure to vote. So now Carter is all jealous that Kayden might be a celebrity in the OC register (California newspaper). Take a minute to register and vote as many times as you can. I believe you can vote 10 times every minute. It doesn't cost to register. His picture is on the 4th page about 3 down in the middle or you can look for photos, the picture is called "kayden and santa".

As for mom, Cannon and Kylie they are not celebrities yet. I have already been in the local newspaper a few times. I try to avoid the cameras. Our fire department has a tradition if you can be recognized you will have to buy pie and ice cream for club night. That adds up if you are the only one since there are about 85 members on our department.

St. George Celebrities!!

Well here they are front page of The Spectrum newspaper in St. George, Utah. This is pretty hillarious!! Carter reminded me everyday to bring cans but somehow each day I thought I will get them together for him the next day. Somehow it ended up being the last day to bring cans and of course I push it to the very end and Coty is working. Since I had all the kids with me including our 7 month old I tried to figure out a way to carry the food and hold him. I decided I would drive Carter to school and then take our little red wagon. As we were turning a corner to get on the sidewalk the wagon tipped over and the cans went rolling along with other food items. A sweet lady and Carter's P.E. teacher(our Bishop) helped us gather the stuff back up. On our way now to his classroom a guy and girl stopped me and said that they were from the newspaper and just got a picture of the kids. They asked for our names an a few other questions. I didn't think anything of it just hoping they didn't get a picture of the cans rolling everywhere and me trying to juggle Cannon our 7 month old and keeping the wagon from tipping over again. I figured they just took a bunch of pictures and they probably wouldn't use the ones they took of us so I totally forgot about it. The next day (Thanksgiving Morning) we got a call from Coty's folks asking if we had seen the paper. Coty thought it was because he was on it because of a call (fire dept.)or something the day before. Carter and Kayden were on the front cover of the newspaper I could not believe it!! I will definitely put a copy of it in their books for them to remember.

Here are a few pictures from this years deer hunt. This is the first time I think the whole family went out. Elisa is not a big outdoorsman. She is afraid of the things that go bump in the night. Carter used to like to go camping but since the fishing trip he has been scared of the harry man (aka big foot). When Elisa found out that grandpa great and my dad was not going to be camping I asked them if we could use ol' blue. With a little cleaning it was way better than a tent. The only thing it didn't have was a shower and toilet, She didn't like the folgers coffee can as a toilet but hey at 0200 in the moring even I'm scared of the dark. The stove/heater worked great even though we didn't need it this year .Kylie, Kayden and myself went camping Thursday night and the rest of the family came up friday night. It was awesome to spend time with the younger ones. Opening morning I took Carter out and missed the big one. That afternoon I took all three of them on my four wheeler. My brothers wife shot hers. That night and Sunday we were unsuccessful, so we packed up and moved camp. Sunday my dad and grandpa shot theirs. I only had one more day to hunt. So Monday my brother, Kayden and myself went out. I shot a little one. Kayden was sure excited. It was all worth the haul out to have my son there.

Our Little Pirates, and a Tiger

The kids had so much fun on Halloween!! A month ago Carter had decided he wanted to be a pirate. So we were at Target and found him a costume. Then he convinced Kylie and Kayden to be the same. I was feeling very organized to be planning this far in advance especially all those that know me very well know that I am pretty last minute. I am not one of these moms that sews or can piece costumes together either so we have decided that our kids will have their costumes for 2 years in a row. I really don't know how long this will last but it worked last year. Halloween day I pulled out a little tiger outfit that Carter wore as a baby and it fit Cannon perfectly. I was sad I couldn't find anything pirate like for Cannon but the tiger would just have to work! Just a couple hours before the trunk or treat we went to the store for a few things. Coty found this pirate costume that was on sale for our little dog minnie the kids were thrilled it was totally meant to be!! Then Coty and I started thinking about how our whole family should be pirates. We searched everywhere we could think of for costumes for us but found nothing. See if I would have only thought ahead... I guess at first I didn't really feel like dressing up but after we got them all ready to go they looked so cute and how fun it would have been to all be pirates. So the plan is next year we are going to be the Pirate Family!! Who knows the kids might throw a fit next year wanting to be something else like Kylie wanting to be Hannah Ontanna(that is what she calls her) but that is the plan.

New York New York!!

We were able to go to New York this summer. Uncle Michael and my Mom did a Concert at Carnegie Hall. My uncle has performed there on many occassions but this was a first for my mom. They were both amazing. I look up to my mom so much she is so amazing!! At the age that she is (which I will not disclose) she has worked for many years and especially in the last year she has worked so hard to perfect her voice and she was the best I have ever heard her. My uncle who is a concert pianist in New York set this whole thing up. It was a once in a lifetime time opportunity for my mom and all of us kids were able to be there to support her. My uncle told me specifically the rules about cameras in Carnegie Hall and so I did not bring our nice one. Coty snuck his little one in and so did my dad. After the concert we found out that we could take pictures outside of the hall just not inside. Oh well here are a couple of pictures after the concert. Mom you looked Gorgeous!!!! You are one hot grandma!!

The other biggie this summer was Coty and I did our very first wedding. If some of you haven't heard we have started photography business and it is so fun!! Our website is up but we are trying to add all of our pics from this last year. We have had a hard time with this guy we are working with, anyways long story!! Hopefully we should be updated within a couple weeks. Our website is www.simpleelegancephotos.com I was trying to get a blog going in the meantime but I am in the process of learning how to watermark our photos to get them online. We are just really busy with four children now we don't seem to have a lot of time to get stuff done that we need to. I think now that Cannon is 6 months old we are ready to get things rolling.

Major catch-up time!!!

We had a lot of things going on this summer for our family. We never go anywhere except Cali and occassionally up north but somehow it all got pushed together in one summer. The first trip we took was in June and it was just Coty and I and the babe. We have never been overnight together without our kids ever! He is gone all the time overnight as a firefighter and I finally was asked to go to girls camp last year and he had all three kids by himself. But this was the first time by ourselves except for Cannon. We went to Park City, Utah for the 100th year Utah State Fire Convention. We had so much fun the department paid for our hotel and it was so nice for the two of us to be together almost by ourselves. Thanks to the Holbrook's that took care of our kids!! You guys are so awesome we love you!! Sorry I don't have any pictures to show you we did take a few. We also had our first Winfield Q. Cannon (my Mom's Dad) celebrating his (would be if he were alive) 100th Birthday. It was so fun to be all be together again. Here are some pictures we took of our trip to Salt Lake City. Mom and Uncle Michael were doing a concert in Salt Lake City they were amazing!!

The Boys only campout

Over the weekend of July 17th -19th. The boys went out camping with their cousins, uncle, grandpa and great grandpa. We went up to Beaver moutain (Labarron lake). Carter and Kayden were so excited to go fishing and camping thats pretty much all they talked about before they left. We meet up at grandpa's house first thing thursday moring and left from there. When we arrived to our campsite all the kids were ready to go fishing. We set up camp then went down to the lake to fish. I don't remember how many fish the kids caught but they sure did have fun reeling them in. I spent more time baiting and casting the kids poles that I don't think I even threw my line in. That night the kids slept great. It was perfect weather for camping. The next day we drove down the road to fish another lake. Once again the kids had a blast. This time I pulled my fly rod out and fished for a little while. Grandpa finally caught a couple. That evening after dinner my brother, myself and the kids jumped in my truck and we drove up to big flat to see if we could see any elk or deer. We probably saw about 80-90 deer, 40-50 elk and 1 porcupine. The porcupine was awesome, it is the first time I have seen one alive. When we got back to camp grandpa told the "harryman story" and of course that night Carter and Kayden wanted to go home. We left Saturday afternoon. We all had a blast, maybe this is a start of a tradition to go out camping with "the boys".

Finally I got this one uploaded a few weeks later. This is Cannon at three weeks old. I know he looks more like a few months old. What can I say I guess we have very mature looking children really they come out looking and acting as 2-3 month olds.

I am still trying to upload a picture of Cannon's face but for some reason it is not uploading. I will try it tomorrow. Anyways, hope this has basically caught everyone up on our busy life.

We have a weener/poodle mix little puppy we got in January I know I am crazy to have gotten a puppy right before I had a baby but she is the sweetest thing ever and she is meant to be for our family. She wants to be right by the baby all the time especially when he is crying.

I know I am back tracking a little but I did have to share with you this experience. We had an interesting Mother's day this year. Ironically I guess it is what being a mother is all about. Kylie is known for not wearing shoes when she goes outside kind of like me. We were having dutch oven potatoes at Coty's brother's house in Diamond Valley 15 minutes from St. George. Anyways, we cooked dutch oven potatoes and the very hot coals were accidentally left out and after dinner Kylie ran outside without her shoes on to get on their trampoline and stepped right on them. Luckily it was only one foot we don't know how long she stood on them but from this graphic content(you might not want to show your children, although it is a good reminder to always wear your shoes to go outside) you can see it was long enough. She was very lucky it was a pretty serious 2nd degree on the verge of 3rd degree burn. She healed very quickly and within 2 weeks she was walking on it. Burns are not fun but she is one tough little girl. Coty and I were talking about how if it was one of the boys they would have been hysterical and Kylie remained very calm during the whole process. I think it was a pretty tramadic experience for her to go through something she will probably never forget. Sorry I know some of you have already seen and heard about this but I thought I would share it with those who haven't.

Wow! What a big boy!!

Carter talked to Cannon the whole pregnancy. Cannon knew his voice. In fact for those of you who didn't know Carter was the one who told me

I was pregnant before I even knew.

Kylie is a big sister and loves her baby brother. She asked me the other day when the baby girl was coming. Yikes!! I hope for her there is one some day but just not quite yet!

Kayden loves being a big brother for the very first time. He does like to pretend sometimes that he is a baby.

Sorry for all the back tracking but some of you have not seen any pictures of Cannon yet. He was born on April 9th 2008 and weighed in at 9lbs. 4 oz. and 21 inches long. I love how each of our babies get bigger and bigger. I am afraid if one more comes along ( a little ways down the road I am hoping) we will hit the 10 lb. mark. That makes me a little nervous about having any more for sure. Anyways, here are some pictures of his first week here.

Carter's 6th Birthday

Carter celebrated his 6th Birthday on May 30th. I can't believe that he is already 6 years old. Time is seriously flying by so fast!! He is such a great boy with an amazing spirit about him that we can already tell. He is a great example to his brothers and sister and as he would say (he loves everyone around the world!!) here are some pictures from his birthday party, we did a pretend camp-out theme. We roasted hot dogs over a campfire that Coty made in our backyard and we also roasted marshmallows and ate somore's. Coty even set up the tent and camp chairs so the kids could get the full effect. It was a lot of fun and quite the hit!!

Memorial weekend we decided to bless Cannon. We also did a surprise birthday party for Bailey( who used to live here in St. George and is our favorite girl and babysitter ever!!) and did a photo session for Mom for her upcoming concerts along with Mike and Darin who wanted their pictures taken too!! We had a lot of fun with everyone that was here but we missed Dave, Cyndi and their little family. Here are some pictures of the weekend!

Cannon's Baby Blessing

Here are some pictures of Cannon's baby blessing. Coty blessed him in our home on May 25, 2008. He did such a wonderful job it is a moment I will never forget. The spirit in that moment was so strong probably because there were 12 priesthood holders in our home performing their righteous duties all at one time. We have never blessed any of our children in our home before but if we have anymore we will definitely do it this way again. Papa and Grandma Brooks from California came along with Uncle Jeff, Uncle Mike and Aunt Darin. They also picked up my other daughter (I wish she was my daughter she is amazing!!)or very special friend Bailey from Payson to come and stay with us too!!
